Why Rebuild Instead of Replace?

NAPCO rotary gear pumps are engineered for field serviceability. Rather than replacing an entire pump when wear occurs, a PK200C rebuild kit restores the PA200C to factory performance at a fraction of the cost. Rebuilds can be completed on-site with standard tools, minimizing downtime and eliminating the need to disconnect the pump from piping. Typical rebuild time is 2–4 hours depending on site conditions and operator experience.

When to Rebuild

Signs that a rebuild is needed:

  • Reduced flow output at normal operating pressure — worn gear teeth no longer seal against the casing
  • Increased vibration or unusual noise during operation
  • Visible fluid leakage past seals at the shaft or case joints
  • Higher motor amperage draw at the same RPM and pressure
  • Declining flow meter readings during routine delivery operations

For a detailed guide, see our article on signs a gear pump needs a rebuild.

What's Inside the Kit

The drive and idler gear assemblies (PA250C/PA251C) are factory-matched as a set — always replace both gears together to maintain proper mesh clearance. The four roller bearings (PM038) support both gear shafts and should be replaced at every rebuild. High-pressure seals (PM036) and low-pressure seals (PM037) prevent leakage under operating pressures up to 100 PSI. Center case gaskets and O-rings complete the seal package.

Ductile Iron vs. Stainless Steel

The PK200C uses ductile iron gears, which provide excellent wear resistance and strength for petroleum, fuel transfer, adhesives, general industrial fluids, and non-corrosive applications. For corrosive chemicals, food-grade fluids, or stainless-steel-mandated environments, choose the PK200S stainless steel kit instead. Both kits use the same bearings, seals, and gaskets — only the gear assemblies differ.
